REMINDER from the Department of
Education & Training Regarding 2-HOTT
Classes (Two Day Hands on Technical

MUST attend one of these classes at some
time between January 2009 and April 1,
2010, to qualify for the Star Recorder
Degree.
Classes will continue to be scheduled
between now and April 1, 2010, however
these are not "Make-up" classes, nor
will "Make-up" classes be scheduled.
According to the Women of the Moose, it
is the Recorder's responsibility to make
sure that she stays up to date on when
these classes are scheduled by visiting
the Moose International website.
You may find all the classes that are
offered at www.mooseintl.org <http://www.mooseintl.org>

Moose Snack Program Ending. Final
Orders Must Be Placed By December 15,
2009.
The Moose Snack program is being
discontinued effective December 31,
2009. With the cost of the product
increasing, and no affordable
alternatives in shipping, it was
determined that the program presented
limited opportunities to generate
additional profits for participating
Lodges during the 2010 calendar year.
Lodges, Chapters and Moose Legions
desiring to place a final order before
the program ends may do so prior to
December 15, 2009.

programs are unrelated. Lodges, Chapters
and Moose Legions may continue to
participate in the Moose Chocolate

Moose Association & Moose Charities
Holiday Seals Fundraiser
Moose Charities and many Moose
Associations are partnering in a
fundraiser that benefits each
participating Association and the
Mooseheart Child City & School. In early
November, active Loyal Order of Moose
members in participating Moose
Associations will receive an envelope
containing a sheet of Holiday seals,
designed by Mooseheart students, and a
donation request.
Holiday seals are traditional ways to
dress up your greeting cards or seasonal
letters to friends and loved ones. Using
these seals will spread the joy and love
of the holiday season and your donation
will help support your Association and
the children of Mooseheart.
We wish you and your family a
wonderful Holiday Season!

LCL.net v2.1 Release Announcement
On Thursday, October 1, 2009, at
approximately 5:30pm central time,
version 2.1 of LCL.net will be made
available. The next time you log in to
LCL.net, you will receive a message
indicating that updates are available.
Click 'Yes' to download the latest
enhancements. Be patient; the download
process may take several minutes,
depending on the speed of your internet
connection. Following the download of
the updates, LCL.net will restart
itself. Attached to this email is the
LCL.net v2.1 What's New document. Some
of the new features include:
Applicant/Member cell phone, email
address format validation, 'Paid As Of
Date' report, and Dropped/Terminated
Members allowed as Out-of-FRU Sponsors.
Because email addresses were not
previously validated, it is recommended
that you use a new feature of the Export
Utility to generate a list of members
with invalidly formatted email
addresses. To do this, go to the Export
Utility located under the 'Go To' main
menu item. Select one or more Membership
Fields to export, including Email
Address. Then check the 'Invalid Email
Format' checkbox. Specify a filename and
location to export to, then click the
'Export' button. The resulting file will
contain information only for members
with invalidly formatted email
addresses. It is important to correct
these email addresses so members can
receive birthday greetings and other
email communications that Moose
International may send.
If you have any questions regarding
this update or using the Export Utility,
please contact the Moose International
Helpdesk at 630-906-3658.

Texas Hold 'Em Registrations Double
in September!
Since the beginning of September, the
number of Moose members registering to
participate in the Inaugural Moose
International Texas Hold 'Em Tournament
has more than doubled.
Some confusion has been reported
regarding the Texas Hold 'Em tournament
being sold out. This is not yet the
case. There are still openings for
members to participate in this exciting
event. Perhaps some members were
confusing the tournament hotel with the
sell out of rooms at the Opryland Hotel
for the 2010 International Moose
Convention. Please ensure that your
members are aware that contrary to some
rumors, while registrations are climbing
rapidly, the Texas Hold 'Em Tournament
is NOT sold out at this time.
A single player in a room requires a
$500 entry fee that includes the
tournament buy-in, 4 nights lodging,
Sunday night dinner buffet, Sunday slot
tournament and a commemorative shirt and
lapel pin. Two players sharing a room
get all of this for $825. There is a
maximum of two players per room. This
Inaugural Texas Hold 'Em Poker
Tournament is limited to the first 600
paid player registrations received by
the December 1, 2009 entry deadline. New
registration materials are now available
to accommodate either one player in a
room or two players sharing a hotel
room.

Youth Awareness Program
For over 20 years, the Moose Youth
Awareness Program has brought vital
positive messages to the children across
North America. The student
representatives at the 2009
International Student Congress in
Hampton, Virginia, along with the Lodges
and Chapters, gave Moose International
one recommendation: to continue this
most important program that affects the
youth in our own communities.
The 2009-2010 Moose Youth Awareness
Program will follow the same format as
last year. We ask you to sponsor at
least two high school students with
recognized leadership skills. They will
attend Association Student Congresses to
be held this fall. Your Association
Moose Youth Awareness Coordinator (LOOM)
and your State/Provincial Youth
Awareness Coordinator (WOTM) are now
planning these sessions. Their plans
include notifying you of the exact date,
time, location, registration fee and
other pertinent information. They will
also need the name of your Lodge/Chapter
Moose Youth Awareness Coordinators.
At Association Student Congresses,
the attendees will be challenged to
complete a minimum of three Moose
KidsTalk presentations to our targeted
group of 4 to 9 year-olds by February
28, 2010. Upon return from the
Association Congress, we ask you to
assist the students in their KidsTalk
presentations by helping to arrange
sessions with the targeted group when
necessary, and to financially support
them in purchasing materials they may
need for their presentations. Last year,
nearly 25,000 4 to 9 year-olds heard
positive messages from our Moose
KidsTalk presenters. Our goal is to
reach 100,000 this year!
For your information, five of the
students who are selected to attend the
2010 International Student Congress (to
be held April 29th - May 3rd, 2010 at
Indianapolis, Indiana) will receive
either a $12,000.00; $8,000.00;
$5,000.00; $3,000.00 or a $2,000.00
college scholarship.
Can your lodge help put your
community's youth on a path to healthy
living? Can your lodge implement or
continue the KidsTalk program? For the
sake of our youth and for the sake of
our next generation of leaders, the
answer must be YES. Thank you for your
cooperation.
The Youth Awareness Guide Book,
Brochure and Parental Consent form will
be posted on the website for your use.

Revision For The Latest Lodge General
Laws (Green Cover), Please Print And
Save With General Laws Book(s)
The General Laws In Force and Effect as
of June 1, 2009, that were recently
delivered to all Lodges, contained an
omission of the first three paragraphs
of Section 48.9. Please print a copy of
the following three paragraphs and place
in each copy of your General Laws book(s).
Sec. 48.9 - Enforce Decorum - During
all social functions, it is the duty of
the House Committee to enforce and
maintain proper decorum at all times.
Participation in the social quarters of
any lodge is a privilege and not a right
of membership. This privilege is
conditioned upon all persons conducting
themselves, while in and about any
social quarters, home or during
activities sponsored by the lodge or
House Committee, in a
gentlemanly/ladylike and orderly manner.
Any person, who fails to comply with
this law, shall be denied the privileges
of the social quarters or home at the
discretion of the House Committee. The
House Committee, upon receiving a
complaint or on its own accord, shall
investigate and take appropriate action
regarding any alleged breach of decorum.
Any member or guest may file a complaint
with the House Committee concerning
alleged misconduct occurring during a
social function.
The authority of the House Committee
to suspend the social quarters
privileges of any member, after
conducting a hearing, shall in no way
affect the member's lodge or chapter
membership status, including the
member's right to attend official
meetings. The House Committee may
suspend a member's social privileges
pending a hearing. The hearing may take
place on the same day as the regular
House Committee meeting, but shall be
separate from the regular meeting.
Separate minutes shall be taken for
House Committee hearings.
Unless the accused member in writing
waives the right to appear, he/she must
attend a hearing before the House
Committee can make a final decision.
After proper notice, if the accused
member fails or refuses to appear before
the House Committee, the member shall
remain suspended until he/she appears at
a hearing before the House Committee.

"Moose Economic Stimulus Plan"
Applicants Not reported Enrolled By May
31, 2009
There were about 1,800 applications not
reported as enrolled by the May 31, 2009
deadline to avoid being retroactively
billed for the application.
These charges will appear on the June
Statement, received at the Lodges,
Chapters and Moose Legions in mid-July,
and identified as "Stimulus".
Loyal Order Of Moose ABCD And
Application Fee Billing Changes
Effective May 1, 2009 the billing of
enrollment fees and ABCD charges has
changed. All transactions recorded
during the month will be billed the
following month. Example: May charges
will show on the June statement, which
is received by the Lodges in mid-July.
They will show on the statement as lodge
applications and dues. Included with
your statement will be a detailed
listing of whom you are being billed
for.
OOPS! This being the first month of
the lodge applications and dues billing
they were put on the statement as
credits by mistake. The billing was run
again and shows on the statement as
charges to offset the credits. We then
had to run the billing again to properly
charge the lodge. This means there will
be 3 line items showing applications and
dues. But in actually you are only being
billed once. We are sorry for any
inconvenience this may cause.

A Few Words On The New Transfer Fees
On June 1, 2009, the Transfer Fee for
Loyal Order of Moose members increased
to $20, while the Transfer Fee for Women
of the Moose members is just $10. A
handful of members contacted us to
question the difference in price for a
process that is essentially the same.
The "average" dues rate for Lodges is
now just over $43 per year. The same
rate for our Chapters is just over $20
per year.
When the differing Transfer Fee rates
were discussed, strong consideration was
given to the argument that a Chapter
member would be paying the equivalent of
one year's dues, just to transfer to
another Chapter. Our Lodge Brothers on
the other hand would be paying less than
one half of a year's dues and in some
cases only 20% of a year's dues to
transfer between Lodges. With this in
mind, the Supreme Council made the
decision to establish the Transfer Fees
at $20 for the Loyal Order of Moose and
to accept the recommendation of the
Grand Council to establish a $10
Transfer Fee for the Women of the Moose.
New From Moose Catalog Sales: Small
Tommy Moose Catalog Sales is now
offering a 7" tall exact replica of the
very popular Tommy Moose. This smaller
Tommy Moose can be used for promotional
purposes, such as a giveaway during a
parade or open house, or as a gift for
children's parties. This smaller Tommy
Moose is NOT to be given to police,
fire, or emergency squads for use in
traumatic situations. Only the original
Tommy Moose should be for that purpose,
as stated by Shawn Baile at the Moose
Convention in Chicago. The 7" tall Tommy
Moose is Catalog Item # 131 and sells
for $5.00 each. Catalogsales@mooseintl.org

Attention Lodges: Fellowship Degree
Eligibility Lists Are No Longer
Available From Moose International With
the arrival of this year's Fellowship
Recommendation Form, if your Lodge is
selected by the Regional Manager to
receive one, your Lodge Fellowship
Recommendation Committee will notice
some changes in the eligibility
requirements. The new eligibility
requirements allow for the consideration
of a broader range of Moose
Legionnaires, while placing the
additional burden on the Lodge
Fellowship Recommendation Committee to
justify why their chosen Moose
Legionnaire should be conferred with the
Fellowship Degree of Honor.
With the more liberal requirements to
be recommended for the Fellowship
Degree, the list of eligible Moose
Legionnaires would be so extensive as to
be of little value in aiding most
Lodges' Fellowship Recommendation
Committee in the recommendation process.

General Law Change Reestablishes
Lodge Governors And Administrators As
Supreme Lodge Representative And
Association Delegates
Sec. 46.5 - Representation to Supreme
Lodge and Associations - The Governor
and Administrator of each member lodge
shall be the lodge's representatives to
the Supreme Lodge and delegates to the
state, territory or provincial
association during their terms of
office. The lodge shall select its
representatives, delegates and
alternates. The lodge shall select any
good standing (active) member to serve
as an alternate when necessary.
A representative of a lodge shall not
be entitled to a vote in any meeting of
the Supreme Lodge while his lodge is in
arrears for any lawful charges of the
Supreme Lodge. The General Governor
shall immediately determine all disputes
concerning any charges against the lodge
when the representative of the lodge
presents his credentials to the
committee.
All representatives or delegates
shall attend all sessions of the
convention, conference or meeting and
submit a written report to their lodge
in a timely manner. A lodge may vote to
pro-rate or decline to reimburse the
expenses of any representative or
delegate who, without valid excuse,
failed to attend all or any portion of
the required sessions of a convention,
conference or meeting.
Every Lodge should already be
conducting additional fund raising
events, if necessary, to ensure that
funds are available to, minimally, send
both the Governor and Administrator to
the 2010 International Moose Convention
in Nashville as well as all Association
conventions and conferences.
The Lodge Nominating Committee should
not allow any member to be placed on the
ballot for Governor or Administrator
unless that member has attested to his
willingness and ability to fulfill the
requirements of serving as the Lodge's
representative to the Supreme Lodge and
delegate to the state, territory or
provincial association during their term
of office.
Lodges & Chapters Receive Community
Service Credit for Mooseheart Scouting
Donations
Beginning with the first quarter of
the 2009-2010 fiscal year, Lodges and
Chapters can once again receive credit
on their quarterly community service
reports by contributing $50.00 to
Mooseheart Scouting during the quarter.
Checks should be made payable to Moose
Charities and earmarked "Mooseheart
Scouting". This is a very simple way to
meet one of the points in the Moose
International 6-Point Community Service
program, and it will help our elementary
students at Mooseheart with uniforms and
supplies for their scouting experience.
Any questions can be directed to the
Department of Fraternal Programs at
(630) 966-2224.
3 Moose Legionnaires "Reward
Themselves" at International Convention
Moose Legionnaires who visited the
Moose Legion booth in the display area
at this year's International Convention
found a unique opportunity to reward
themselves for their service to the
Order. For a $5.00 donation, members of
the Moose Legion were entered in a
"Reward Yourself" drawing that could
afford them anything from life
memberships to payment of their "Gimme
5" commitments to much more. 3 Moose
Legionnaires walked away from the
convention with the following as a
result of their $5.00 contributions:
Gene Morelli of Western Reserve (OH)
Moose Legion #7 - Gene was already a
paid life member in the Moose Legion and
had already completed his 5-year
commitment to "Gimme 5". As a result,
Gene received membership in the
Mooseheart/Moosehaven Endowment Fund
Club at the $500 level.
Bill Greenfield of Kanawha Valley
(WV) Moose Legion #123 - Bill received a
paid life membership in his Moose Legion
and, since he had already completed his
5-year commitment to "Gimme 5",
membership in the Mooseheart/Moosehaven
Endowment Fund Club at the $200 level.
Paul Fleig of Genesee Valley (NY)
Moose Legion #61 - Paul received a paid
life membership in his Moose Legion and
had his 5-year commitment to "Gimme 5"
paid in full.
Congratulations to our winners and
thank you to all who participated. We
will continue to offer these "rewarding"
opportunities for Moose Legionnaires at
future events.

Only 1,800 Of 75,000 "Moose Economic
Stimulus Plan" Applicants Not Reported
Enrolled By May 31, 2009! Our
Administrators, Recorders and Moose
Legion Secretaries did an outstanding
job of following up on and reporting
enroll dates for members who applied to
the Loyal Order of Moose, Women of the
Moose and Moose Legion during the "Moose
Economic Stimulus Plan". Of the over
75,000 applications received between
March 31, 2009 and April 30, 2009, only
about 1,800 were not reported as
enrolled by the May 31, 2009 deadline to
avoid being retroactively billed for the
application fee.
The billings for these application
fees will likely appear on the July of
2009 statements which will be received
in August.
The Membership Department Thanks Two
Resigning Volunteers Effective May 31,
2009 Assistant Regional Manager John
Lund resigned from his volunteer
position assisting the Lodges and
Chapters in the Alberta-Saskatchewan,
British Columbia and Alaska-Hawaii Moose
Associations. John was recognized as a
Top Assistant Regional Manager at this
year's International Moose Convention in
Chicago. He felt that he could no longer
provide the high level of service he had
provided in the past in a territory
covering in excess of two million square
miles.
Also on May 31, 2009, Top Assistant
Regional Manager Michael Tolson resigned
his volunteer position serving the
Massachusetts-Rhode Island, Connecticut
and Northeast Moose Associations.
Michael stepped up to lead these
Associations following the untimely
death of Regional Manager Chuck
Breadmore. With new Regional Manager
Scotty Fiske in place, Michael can now
devote more time to his other duties as
the Massachusetts-Rhode Island
Association Secretary and as
Administrator of his Lodge in Woburn,
Massachusetts.
We thank these individuals for their
years of dedication and service and are
confident that they will continue to 'Be
a Piece of the Solution' in our Moose
puzzle.
Loyal Order of Moose ABCD And
Application Fee Billing Changes On May
1, 2009, Moose International
transitioned the billing of Lodges, for
Application Fees and ABCD/Per Capita for
newly reported members, to the new Moose
Membership Management System. Lodges,
Chapters and Moose Legions are now
billed in the same manner. There is a
one month lag in the billing process to
ensure that all transactions recorded in
a calendar month appear on a single
statement. For instance, all ABCD and
Application Fees for applications and
enrollments transmitted to Moose
International in May, are processed in
June, to appear on the June statement
that will arrive at the Lodge in early
July. Most Lodges will not see any
Application Fees or ABCD charges on the
statement they receive in early June of
2009.
