Brothers & Co-Workers,
Congratulations to all of you who contributed to making the Mid-Winter
Conference in Ocean City a great success! We were very fortunate to have
Ray Kesling as our official visitor and also his lovely wife, Betty.
Brother Ray passed on a lot of important information at all the
sessions, but of all his great accomplishments has had with the Moose,
the thing he is most proud of is being a member of the Loyal Order of
Moose.
I received a lot of positive feedback on the various
topics that were
discussed at the meetings through the format of a panel discussion. What
a special treat it was to have Michelle Marie, our 8 year old singer
from Aberdeen Lodge #1450, to open our joint session with her singing of
the National Anthem. This was certainly an inspiration to everyone in
attendance. The attendance for the Moose Legion event on Thursday
night and the “Hawaiian Luau” banquet on Saturday evening was good. Some
of the “gentlemen” in grass skirts looked very good.
At this point, Membership is our number one priority.
The Association
needs everyone to get those qualified people that they know to sign up.
Ten
lodges have already obtained their first quota and are still working to
sign up more new members. There are several lodges that are close
to obtaining their quota and, with a little extra effort, they will
reach their goals.
Just a friendly reminder that on May 4, 2008 we are
having a “Moose Day” at the Bowie Baysox Stadium in Bowie, MD. We are
looking forward to our members bringing out their children,
grandchildren and other members of their family. This should be a
fun-filled afternoon where everyone can relax and enjoy the atmosphere
of a baseball game with their Moose family. Contact Frank Courtney by
email at frank@millcourt.net to
get your tickets or any other information related to this event. Hope to
see you there!
Since the conference, my wife and I have enjoyed traveling to several of
the Districts and to many Lodges with special events. We have enjoyed
all of these and all the members of the Lodges have shown us great
hospitality and made us feel very welcome. We look forward to
seeing many of you in future events at your Lodge. Please let me know
when
you are having something special and I will try to attend.
Fraternally,
Ralph Shockley
